![]() Mainframes are large, powerful computers that can do many different things for many different people at once. They are slower than a supercomputer but they are also not as expensive, they may cost around 4 million pounds to buy. Main frames can process billions of instructions a second and process data Desktop: Modern PC's are very powerful and relatively inexpensive you find similar machines in a home and a office environment. PC can carry out millions of calculations per second and can store large amounts of data typically anything from 120GB to 1TB. they tend to be set up and left in one place they don't really need to be moved about. Laptops: Laptops are a portable computer that is luckily small enough to carry round with you eg. to work and school. They also have a key and touch pad instead of a mouse and keyboard the screen can fold back and forth for when in and when out of use. they have good battery power and can still be used whilst flat if plug socket is available Netbook: Netbooks are usually smaller in size and weight than a traditional laptop,designed to be carried around in just one hand and super lightweight They are normally 10 inches in size but as technology advances they are getting smaller They have smaller storage space than laptop as they only have 20-120GB PDA: They are hand-held computers that enable the user to
